В Ізраїлі Верховний суд скасував закон Нетаньягу про обмеження повноважень суддів
Верховний суд Ізраїлю скасував вельми спірний закон, спрямований на ослаблення повноважень суддів. Це стало поразкою для правої коаліції прем'єр-міністра Біньяміна Нетаньягу, пише Bloomberg.
Суд, який вперше засідав з усіма 15 суддями, скасував 8 голосами проти 7 закон, ухвалений парламентом у липні. Документ, зокрема, забороняв суддям скасовувати рішення уряду як “необґрунтовані”.
“Це історичний день – масштабна громадська перемога тих, хто прагне демократії. Уряду та міністрам, які намагалися звільнитися від верховенства закону, показали, що в Єрусалимі є судді. Що таке демократія і що існує розподіл влади”, − йдеться у заяві ліберального “Руху за якісний уряд”.

Суд постановив, що “поправка завдає серйозної та безпрецедентної шкоди основним характеристикам Ізраїлю як демократичної держави”.
Закон був схвалений як поправка до Основного закону та став першим із низки судових змін, обіцяних урядом наприкінці грудня 2022 року.
“Популістська реформа, яка розколола націю, вдарила по ринках і викликала критику з боку Білого дому. Сотні тисяч людей вийшли на вулиці, щоб протестувати проти запланованих змін або підтримати їх”, − йдеться у матеріалі.
Війна поклала край цим протестам і переключила увагу нації на зовнішні загрози, однак внутрішні розбіжності у країні все ще існують, зазначає Bloomberg.
